HOSPITAL SAFETY / WAYFINDING AND LIGHTING / 2020 / POLITECNICO DI MILANO / GROUP PROJECT

The area where the project is developed is the Policlinico di Milano, the oldest hospital in the city, whose complex includes 24 pavilions. The project aims to solve the current critical issues of wayfinding and lighting through a strategic positioning of informational panels that take into account the main entrances and flows. To do so the team has designed a wayfinding system, consisting of modular panels that can be easily updated and backlit, so that they can be seen even at night.
For the lighting of the outdoor spaces, the project provides a background light distribution, which can make the Policlinico a safe and habitable place even at night, and a detail one that emphasizes the peculiar elements of the buildings and the street, favoring recognizability and orientation.
